Ethan and Bailey love to play with a football that finally goes flat. The movie spans about 25 or so years in CJ's life, it is well told and has a really good and rewarding conclusion. They have a great cast for the movie, and I will say that Dennis Quaid was phenomenal in the movie. But it is the dogs that steal the spotlight here, of course. And director Gail Mancuso really nailed it right on the head with this movie, making a very memorable and truly magnificent movie. This movie has something for everyone in the audience, and I am sure that everyone watching it will take it to heart and bring something with them from the movie once it has ended.

It was pretty interesting to see the dog going through his life. The only thing I didn't think was that good was the focusing on the people. If you are going to see this movie you will want to see the dogs not the humans. Their where a couple scenes were it made sense.
I'm also glad I grabbed extra napkins with my popcorn! I experienced all those wonderful emotions and then watched A Dog's purpose. The message of this film is that you can persevere to overcome the bad things that happen to you in life.

Max is eager to reunite CJ and Trent, despite each of them being in live-in relationships of their own. Max intentionally misbehaves around CJ's boyfriend, after which they break up and CJ moves out with Max. CJ begins to date Shane, who Molly distrusts and tries to protect her from. Attending a party which gets busted by police for underage drinking, CJ is sentenced to community service where Molly learns how to detect cancer. Her grandparents try to pay her and Gloria a visit, bringing a box of Henry's belongings, but still angry and distrustful, Gloria closes the door on them. During the exchange, Molly subtly indicates to Ethan that she is the reincarnated Bailey.

In addition to Quaid and Gad reprising their roles, the cast also includes Marg Helgenberger , Betty Gilpin, Kathryn Prescott, and Henry Lau. The trailer for the sequel, titled A Dog's Journey, was released in January 2019. In 2015, DreamWorks acquired the film rights for Cameron's novel. On May 8, 2015, it was announced Lasse Hallström would direct the film. On August 5, 2015, Britt Robertson and Dennis Quaid joined the cast.
